The Cathedral from the Largo da Ordem

Another point of view of the Cathedral and the panel of Poty Lazzarotto of Nestor de Castro street. The photo was taken from the Largo da Ordem on a Sunday morning, before setting up the tents of the crafts fair.

Today is Christmas Eve and we are all at home getting ready for supper at my mother in law's home. Presents and good food are about to come!

Trick or treat?

Halloween is not really celebrated in Brazil but due to the English schools all over the country and also due to the influence of the American movie industry, it is becoming more and more common to see Halloween parties.

I have taken the pictures of an English school at Alto da XV district. This house has been reformed to houses the Potty Lazzarotto Museum, but the family didn’t obtain the support necessary to develop the project.

Poty Lazzarotto

Napoleon Potyguera Lazzarotto, known simply as Poty (Curitiba, March 29, 1924 - Curitiba, May 8, 1998) was Curitiba's most known artist.

The governor of Paraná, Manoel Ribas, awarded Poty in 1942 with a scholarship at the National School of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro. In 1946 he received from the French government, a scholarship, and in France he learned lithography.

According to some critics, the murals are the most representative pieces of his work. In its implementation, Poty employed various materials such as wood, glass (stained glass), ceramics, tile and concrete. His art can be seen in many public places in Curitiba, as the panels of the porch of the Teatro Guaira, in the lobby of Afonso Pena Airport, building murals at Largo da Ordem (as seen in the pictures above) and many other places all over Curitiba.
