Botanical Garden at night

I have spotted the Botanical Garden of Curitiba at night from a higher point at Cristo Rei District. Sunday at the Botanical Garden

Sunday in Curitiba is a very nice day to visit the Botanical Garden for a walk, taking pictures or just to see people. On this day, many couples rest under the trees, parents and children play freely, people walk on the paths and trails and children everywhere enjoy the contact with a bit of nature.

"As Mocinhas da Cidade" Fountain

The fountain at the junction of Cruz Machado and Alameda Cabral, honors the couple and country singers "Nho Belarmino and Nhá Gabriela". Both were very popular em Curitiba and everybody who ever lived in Curitiba knows the song printed on the tiles of the fountain.
The fountain is a Fernando Canalli's design with columns engraved with pine seeds, framing pictures printed on tiles of the couple and the verses of the song "Mocinhas da Cidade", immortalized by them and first recorded in the early '50s.

The Botanical Garden is one of the most visited tourist sites in Curitiba. It was inaugurated on October 05, 1991. It occupies an area of 278,000 m², with a greenhouse inspired by Crystal Palace in London, which permanently sets of plants from various points of the Brazilian territory. It also features gardens created in the image of French gardens and trails that cut through the woods, where it can be seen the pine angustifolia, pitangueiras, peach trees and more. There's space for exhibitions, library and auditorium. Currently, the Botanical Museum of Curitiba has the fourth largest herbarium in the country.
On weekends, the lawns of the Botanical Garden are crowded with children playing, couples strolling and people resting under a tree.
