In the early 20s, members of the Jewish community tried to build their own cemetery, but they were discouraged by the mayor at the time, Joao Moreira Garcez, arguing that there was already the Municipal Cemetery. After negotiations between Solomon Guelmann and Archbishop of Curitiba, in 1926, the City built at Agua Verde district, the Jewish cemetery next to the existing Christian cemetery.
